I wish we just had the one official language. It would make things easier in the long run. If I moved to Japan I would start to learn Japanese, if I moved to Canada, I would learn Canadian, eh.

I saw this tee-shirt the other day that said something like “WARNING: If I wake up with marker on my face I’m going to kill someone”. It made me think of you.
ReplyDeleteYeah Dave does seem to be very bitter towards the world.
ReplyDeleteSometimes he sounds like that Limbaugh character. /Sarcastic
ReplyDeleteI think it should be required to have new citizens be able to speak English to claim citizenship for reasons of employment. But I don’t think we should mandate an official language.
Why not, people can speak whatever language they want at home, but it is ridiculous to conduct government proceedings in multiple languages.
ReplyDeletePatrick - This coming from a guy who took the morning to argue against a proposal he didn’t even bother reading :)
ReplyDeleteThat would be what it means. You can speak Spanish all you want, but legal business and government forms English only. I like to be able to read and understand government documents in the general language.
I’m just surprised that it needs to be said that these documents would be in English.
