People these days are are pretty gear heavy campers. If you took more than a change of socks… Also, tents? It’s summer. Why are there chairs around the fire? You are supposed to find a fallen tree and drag it over. Etc. When I was a kid we used backs, you go whatever fit in it. Of course we always packed like we had to hike 10 miles even if we didn’t.
Once I was camping out at the Boardman bombing range. I was sleeping with a tarp wrapped around me; when I got woken up and was told we were leaving. It was 6am or so but the wind had kicked up and many of the kids were chasing their beach ball shaped tents down. Even the ones with packs left in them were sliding away in the wind.

Funny. I vauegly remember us camping last year. Sitting around the campfire, and yes, sitting around in chairs. I could be mistaken though. It could have been a bear sitting next to me.
